Creative Computing Solutions, a leading Microsoft Dynamics partner that has a division focused on supplying solutions to the media sector, is thrilled to announce a strategic investment in Lockside Consulting, a company renowned for its expertise in providing professional services to the media industry. This strategic move marks a significant step towards Creative’s vision of broadening its Intellectual Property (IP) range of solutions and services, solidifying its commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences to clients worldwide.
Lockside Consulting was established by Ed Hearsey in 2013 to provide bespoke services in the rights and royalties field for companies in the creative industries. Ed has thirty years’ rights and royalties experience in the broadcast and music industries. He began his career at PRS for Music followed by Warner Chappell Music Ltd. In 2002 he moved to Kobalt Music Ltd where he set up the Copyright Department and played a key role in defining system specifications for their bespoke rights management and royalty system. Before setting up Lockside Consulting, Ed spent seven years at BBC Studios, managing its Independent Production Accounting Department.
For most businesses in the creative industries royalty accounting is not the primary focus. Time is better spent developing ideas and nurturing talent. However, it is a false economy to neglect royalty administration. Failure to pay talent and third parties in an accurate and timely manner will lead to reputations loss. Unfortunately, talent reporting isn’t often found in many finance systems and most reporting is completed in Excel. Lockside use Just-TALENT, the UK’s leading talent reporting software for production companies developed in conjunction with our sister company Creative Computing. We provide a complete service across the lifecycle of a project or the opportunity to discuss direct use of the Just-TALENT app for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with our partner.
The audit is a critical tool for ensuring that your business receives correct accounting, identifying omissions, inaccuracies, errors and misinterpretations that may result in you being seriously underpaid. It is considered good business practice, rather than a sign of mistrust, to maintain a regular audit programme across all your partners. Lockside Consulting supply audit services that can be tailored to meet your requirements, from a desktop review through to a full forensic audit, including on site source documentation analysis, submission of a comprehensive royalty audit report and negotiation of the recovery of any underpayments. We can also offer support, advice and analysis aimed at defending audit claims.
The world of rights and royalties is a complex one. With thirty years’ experience dealing with rights and royalties, Lockside offer a range of services including commercial advice, research, contract review, business modelling, local representation and licensing.
In an ever-changing rights landscape with multiple consumption models and numerous revenue streams it is critical that organisations employ robust systems and processes to ensure rights are properly managed, royalty obligations are fulfilled and revenue is collected in full. Lockside can help with process mapping, process design, system specification, data migration and user acceptance testing.
